How do you play hard to get? :)?

Now I know I have heard plenty of guys say they don't find it attractive or anything but I would love to know a few tips so I don't have to feel so desperate for my boyfriend anymore. I feel like I always want to call him or just be with him and I'd rather wait for HIS call and wait for HIM to make plans for once. I usually end up doing all of it because I'm so desperate to be with him or call him. I'd love to know how to play a little hard to get so he knows I don't depend on others and that I am independent and don't need to be so desperate all the time!
